In the video below, we interview Ida Kubiszewski, Robert Costanza, and Joseph Eastoe, three of the researchers behind the article “Building consensus on societal wellbeing: a semantic synthesis of indicators to move beyond GDP.”
They share insights from the paper and explain how consensus among wellbeing indicators emerges: across all the indicators analysed in the article, the same 20 domains consistently appear. The semantic modelling used in this study makes it possible to quantify these similarities even when the indicators are designed for different purposes.
This video is part of our ongoing series to build consensus for moving beyond GDP. As this is a complex and evolving conversation condensed into a few minutes, not every aspect can be covered: we aim to make the debate accessible, not settled.
